Since its first edition in January, 2005,the Grand Odyssey Savoie Mont Blanc is the most difficult international husky race in the world. The race over the topography of the Alps attracts 25 of the finest racers from all corners of the world who, along with their dogs, compete against each other over 10 days.
The first race takes place in the Portes du Soleil. With their Alaskan and Sibérian huskies, the mushers traverse more than 800 km across the Savoie and the Haute Savoie, and climb 25,000 metres of mountain terrain.
The track will lead the teams through 24 ski resorts (20 French resorts and 4 Swiss), where many exciting events will take place. The event brings together thousands of people crowded on the snowy streets of the resort centers, including Megève.
